SWGRC Staff Attend HUD Healthy Homes Program Manager Training
Southwest Georgia Regional Commission staff recently attended the 2026 HUD Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes (OLHCHH) Program Manager School and New Grantee Orientation held April 27–30, 2026, in Arlington, Virginia.
Representing SWGRC were Jennifer Pittman, Grant Administrator/Writer, and Jeff Hamilton, GIS Technician/Information Specialist. The training focused heavily on the Older Adult Home Modification (OAHM) Program, which is currently administered by SWGRC throughout the Region 10 area.
The multi-day training provided guidance on:
- healthy homes initiatives
- grant management
- housing safety
- environmental health hazards
- program implementation strategies
Sessions attended by SWGRC staff included topics such as healthy homes principles, aging in place, relocation and occupant protection planning, contractor procurement, home assessment practices, client-centered home modification implementation, environmental review requirements, and strategies for improving health and safety outcomes in the home. Jennifer Pittman also attended several fiscal, grant management, and program compliance sessions related to federal grant administration and reporting requirements.
The conference was hosted by HUD’s Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes and included training related to lead hazard reduction, indoor air quality, mold and moisture control, radon awareness, injury prevention, and healthy housing standards.
Participation in the training provided SWGRC staff with valuable information and technical resources to support the continued success of the Older Adult Home Modification Program and other healthy housing initiatives across Southwest Georgia.
