SWGRC Recognized with Three National IMPACT Awards at NADO Annual Conference

The Southwest Georgia Regional Commission (SWGRC) recently received national recognition for its work in Transportation, Education, and Workforce Development at the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) Annual Conference in Reno, Nevada.

Economic Development Planner Beka Shiver attended the conference on behalf of SWGRC, where she proudly accepted three Aliceann Wohlbruck IMPACT Awards, recognizing the Regional Commission's efforts to strengthen communities, expand opportunities, and support economic growth throughout Southwest Georgia.

The Aliceann Wohlbruck IMPACT Awards recognize regional development organizations and their partners for innovative projects and programs that make a meaningful difference in their communities. In addition to representing SWGRC during the awards ceremony, Shiver attended the conference as a participant in the Southeast Emerging Leaders Program, having been selected for this professional development opportunity in partnership with NADO. The program is designed to equip Economic Development District (EDD) staff with the knowledge, leadership skills, and resources necessary to guide high-performing organizations. Through specialized training, networking, and peer learning, participants gain valuable insight into effective regional economic development strategies and organizational leadership.

NADO serves as an important resource for regional development organizations across the country, providing advocacy, professional development, technical assistance, and opportunities for collaboration. Its programs help Economic Development Districts strengthen their leadership capabilities, share successful strategies, and better serve the communities that depend on them.

SWGRC is proud to receive this national recognition and congratulates Beka Shiver on her selection for the Emerging Leaders Program. These accomplishments reflect the dedication of SWGRC's staff and regional partners to advancing transportation, education, workforce development, and economic opportunities throughout Southwest Georgia.
