Now Hiring: Director of Transportation for Southwest Georgia Regional Commission
The Southwest Georgia Regional Commission (SWGRC) is excited to announce an opportunity to lead one of the most vital services in our region: public transportation. We are actively seeking a visionary and experienced Director of Transportation to oversee and grow the Southwest Georgia Regional Transit Program.
This full-time leadership role is 100% dedicated to the regional transit initiative and serves as the primary point of contact for both the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). The Director of Transportation will play a critical role in shaping mobility across our 14-county region, working directly with state agencies, city and county partners, and third-party transportation providers.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Managing day-to-day operations of the Southwest Georgia Regional Transit program.
- Developing and updating program policies and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.
- Overseeing contracts, budgeting, and reporting.
- Investigating complaints and improving rider experience.
- Representing SWGRC at RTCC and Transportation Committee meetings.
- Leading partnerships and outreach to strengthen and expand regional transit services.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- At least five years of progressive management experience in transportation or transit services.
- Strong background in budgeting, compliance, and staff supervision.
- Ability to analyze transit data and present to stakeholders.
- Knowledge of transportation administration, contract negotiation, and community relations.
