2026 COPS Office Microgrants Now Available

The U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) is now accepting applications for the FY 2026 Community Policing Development (CPD) Microgrants Program.
This funding opportunity is designed to help state, local, tribal, and territorial law enforcement agencies develop and implement innovative community policing strategies that address local public safety challenges.
Approximately $6.7 million is available through the program. Individual awards of up to $200,000 are available for projects lasting 24 months, and no local match is required.
Eligible projects may focus on areas such as:
- Human trafficking investigations
- Gang violence enforcement
- Child exploitation investigations
- Cybercrime prevention and investigation
- Opioid and drug market enforcement
- Officer recruitment, hiring, and retention
- Domestic terrorism prevention
- Unmanned aerial systems (drones)
- Vagrancy and squatting
- Violent crime enforcement and investigations
Law enforcement agencies with innovative ideas to strengthen community policing and improve public safety are encouraged to apply.
