Georgia Heritage Grants are back!

 

Applications Open: August 31, 2026

Deadline: October 31, 2026 at 11:59pm


These grants are funded by sales of the Historic Preservation License plate and are awarded to both local governments OR private secular non-profit organizations.

Projects

Eligible projects include both development and predevelopment projects.

  • Development projects may include bricks and mortar activities, such as roof, window and foundation repair, or brick repointing.
  • Predevelopment projects may include construction documents, feasibility studies, historic structure reports, or preservation plans.

 

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for funding, applicants must be able to fulfill the following criteria:

  • be a local government or private secular nonprofit organization
  • have documentation of matching funds (equal to at least 40% of the project cost)
  • ensure that all grant assisted work meets the applicable Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Archaeology and Rehabilitation of Historic Properties
  • have properties that are listed in, or eligible for listing in, the National and Georgia Registers of Historic Places
  • agree to execute a Covenant Agreement on the property to assure public access, maintenance, and compliance with preservation standards for five years (applies to development projects only)

 

Applications

Applications for the grant program are available beginning August 31, 2026. Applications must be submitted on or before October 31, 2026 at 11:59pm.

 

Applications are available through the NR-TIGERS, DCA's grant management system. Registration in the system requires approval, so remember to register in advance!
