Early County Residents Invited to Help Shape the Community's Future

The future of Early County starts with community input.

Residents, business owners, farmers, educators, faith leaders, and other community members are invited to participate in the Early County Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee Kickoff Meeting. This is an opportunity to help guide the vision for the county's future and ensure local voices are reflected in important planning decisions. The meeting will take place on Monday, August 10, at 6:00 p.m. at Jakin City Hall, 137 South Pearl Street, Jakin, Georgia.

The Comprehensive Plan serves as a long-term roadmap for Early County, helping guide decisions related to growth, economic development, housing, transportation, infrastructure, parks, and community services. It also helps maintain the county's eligibility for many state grants, loans, permits, and other funding opportunities.

During the meeting, steering committee members will discuss three key questions that will shape the plan:

  • What do we have?
  • What do we want?
  • How will we get there?

Community members are encouraged to share what they value most about Early County, identify opportunities for improvement, and help develop ideas that will benefit future generations. Whether you've lived in the county your entire life or recently made it your home, your perspective is an important part of the planning process.

The Southwest Georgia Regional Commission will facilitate the planning effort in partnership with Early County and welcomes anyone interested in helping shape the community's future to attend.
