Attention Southwest Georgia Community Leaders:
FY26 Congressionally Directed Spending Requests Open Soon

The office of U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff has announced that starting Monday, February 24, 2025, they will begin accepting requests for Fiscal Year 2026 Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) projects. This is an exciting opportunity for local governments, nonprofits, and community organizations to seek federal support for high-impact projects that can help improve our region.

What is Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS)?
CDS projects are intended to provide federal funding for initiatives that can be jumpstarted or completed with federal support. These are key projects that may require additional resources for completion or to reach the next stage of development. However, please note that for-profit entities are not eligible for CDS funding.

How Can You Participate?
If your community has a project in need of federal assistance, now is the time to prepare! The guidance for submitting requests is based on the previous fiscal year’s (FY25) guidance, which is available for review in the FY26 Constituent Appropriations Guide (PDF). Keep in mind that the guidance may be subject to changes as the new fiscal year approaches.

We encourage you to share this important opportunity with relevant organizations, local nonprofits, community groups, and others who may have potential projects. This is a chance for Southwest Georgia to benefit from federal support for infrastructure, economic development, public services, and more.

Important Dates:
- Start Date for Requests: Monday, February 24, 2025
- Additional Information: The CDS application portal will be available on Senator Ossoff’s website starting Monday, February 24.

Need More Information?
For further details on how to submit requests, please visit Senator Ossoff’s official website at https://www.ossoff.senate.gov/services/appropriations/, which will be updated with the new CDS application portal.

You can also reach out directly to Senator Ossoff’s office by email at Appropriations@ossoff.senate.gov or by calling (202) 224-3521.

Take advantage of this opportunity to bring much-needed resources to Southwest Georgia.
Let’s work together to bring our communities’ visions to life!

Applications for Round 6 are now open and will be accepted through March 31, 2026, with additional applications considered through April 15 if space remains. Funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Rural Capacity Building Program and USDA Rural Development’s Rural Community Development Initiative, OneRural provides no-cost, one-on-one technical assistance to help rural organizations strengthen operations, build capacity, and expand affordable housing and community development efforts. Selected participants receive expert guidance on housing development and financing, specialized training resources, and support from a dedicated HAC team partner to help implement solutions and grow long-term impact.
