RRP Lead-Based Paint Certification Training Coming to Camilla

Contractors and rehabilitation professionals are invited to attend an upcoming RRP Lead-Based Paint Certification Training on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the Southwest Georgia Regional Commission. This one-day course is required for contractors who perform renovation, repair, or painting work on homes built before 1978.

The training is especially important for contractors interested in becoming qualified rehabilitation contractors for the Community HOME Investment Program (CHIP) and the Older Adults Home Modification Program (OAHMP). Both programs fund housing improvements throughout Southwest Georgia and require contractors to hold current EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) certification.

What Participants Will Learn

The course covers:

  • Why lead-based paint is a health hazard
  • EPA, HUD, and Georgia EPD regulations
  • How to determine if lead affects a project
  • Safe work area setup and cleaning
  • Proper disposal of lead-contaminated materials
  • Required documentation procedures

The class will be taught by Chuck Griffith of T&C Safety Training Institute, LLC. Chuck has more than 40 years of construction experience and has trained thousands of contractors across Georgia, including professionals from major companies such as The Home Depot, Lowe's, Window World, CertaPro Painters, and ServiceMaster.
