Mitchell County and Cities Announce Pre-Hazard Mitigation Plan Kick-Off Meeting

Mitchell County and the cities of Camilla, Baconton, Pelham, and Sale City will host a Kick-Off Meeting for the Pre-Hazard Mitigation Plan on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM. The meeting will take place at the Mitchell County Board of Commissioners Building, 5201 Highway 19 S, Camilla, GA 31730.

This public meeting marks the first step in updating the county’s federally required Pre-Hazard Mitigation Plan—a long-range strategy designed to reduce or eliminate risks to life and property from natural and man-made disasters.

Why This Plan Matters

  • A strong Pre-Hazard Mitigation Plan helps communities:
  • Prepare proactively for severe weather and emergency events
  • Protect residents, homes, and businesses
  • Strengthen economic recovery after disasters
  • Access critical federal funding opportunities
  • Meet federal compliance requirements

Who Should Participate

All county jurisdictions—including city officials, residents, business owners, local organizations, and stakeholders—are encouraged to take part in the planning process. Input from the public is vital to developing a plan that reflects real community needs and priorities.

Community Feedback Encouraged

Residents are invited to share questions, comments, and local hazard concerns. The flyer provides a QR code linking directly to the public input form, making it easy for community members to make their voices heard.
