GTIB Opens FY27 Funding Round

The Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank (GTIB), administered by the State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA), has officially opened its Fiscal Year 2027 Call for Projects and is now accepting applications from local governments across Georgia.

GTIB provides funding assistance for transportation infrastructure projects through grants, low-interest loans, and grant/loan combinations. Eligible applicants include cities, counties, Community Improvement Districts (CIDs), and certain state government entities.

Applications are due August 21, 2026, and all submissions must be authorized by the applicant's governing body prior to submission.

Eligible Projects

Funding is available for a variety of transportation-related improvements, including:

  • Roadway and bridge projects
  • Bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure
  • Traffic control and safety improvements
  • Preliminary engineering and design
  • Right-of-way acquisition
  • Construction activities
  • Public airport hangar development projects

GTIB funding can also be used in conjunction with federal transportation funding and may serve as a local match for eligible federal projects.

Funding Options

Applicants may apply for:

  • Grant funding
  • Low-interest loans
  • Combined grant and loan packages

Recent GTIB funding rounds have awarded grants ranging from approximately $1 million to $2 million, while loans have exceeded $6 million for larger projects. According to SRTA, applications that include a loan component are often more competitive than grant-only requests.

Why Consider GTIB?

GTIB offers flexible financing options designed to help communities advance critical transportation projects. Current loan rates range from 2.76% for a five-year term to 4.03% for a twenty-year term, providing an affordable financing option for local governments seeking to improve infrastructure and support economic development.

Need Assistance?

The Southwest Georgia Regional Commission (SWGRC) encourages local governments throughout Region 10 to explore this funding opportunity. Communities interested in applying or discussing potential projects are encouraged to contact SWGRC staff for assistance.
