Transit services are handicap accessible in order to provide safe and comfortable transportation for the disabled community. Lift equipped vehicles meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, and can accommodate wheelchairs that do not exceed the vehicle’s individual lift maximum design load. At a minimum, wheelchairs can be accommodated up to 30 inches in width, 48 inches in length and a maximum weight, when occupied, of 600 lbs; however, newer lifts may be able to accommodate a larger chair. Please contact your local Transit Provider if you have any concerns about your wheelchair’s physical dimensions or total occupied weight.
When calling to schedule a pick up, be sure to indicate the need for a lift-equipped vehicle and/or additional assistance. Drivers will assist individuals with safely boarding and exiting the vehicle. Individuals with mobility impairments who need special assistance in navigating to and from the vehicle should have a Personal Care Attendant (PCA) ride with them. Please contact your local Transit Provider for more information.
