What does an Southwest Georgia Regional Council Member do?

An SWGRC Council member attends monthly meetings.  Usually that means the last Thursday of each month (November and December meetings are combined in to one).  At 6:30 p.m. we serve supper to our members and the guests.  At 7:00 p.m. we have our official meeting that usually lasts an hour depending on guest speakers.

The council has votes throughout the year at the meetings that keep the SWGRC operating, applying for grants , and other items.

If a council member cannot make a meeting all they have to do is call or email ahead of time and their absence shows up as excused...no reason needs to be given.

If the council member misses three consecutive meetings without calling in the appointing authority receives a letter as well as the member.

We have guest speakers at our meetings that have great information that the council members can bring back to their communities.  (most of the time the speakrs and materials are posted on this website).

The non-elected officials receive $25 travel reimbursement for each meeting they attend.
