Amanda Glover has been serving as the Director of the Downtown Development Authority of Bainbridge since November 1999. She is a native of Bainbridge, and has a deep-rooted passion of her hometown’s historic downtown district.
In January 2014, the City of Bainbridge was one of five cities in Georgia designated a Georgia Exceptional Main Street (GEMS) program by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. In 2016, Amanda became one of only a handful certified professionals in the State of Georgia to be recognized as a Master Georgia Downtown Development Professional. She also served as the 2017 President of the Georgia Downtown Association.
Under Amanda’s tenure, the Bainbridge Main Street program has been recognized as a National Main Street community. She has assisted with numerous Historic Preservation Tax Credit projects, assisted project developers with the state’s low interest loan application process, and developed local downtown incentives for new and existing businesses.
In 2018, Downtown Bainbridge was one of nine Georgia communities designated by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs as a R.U.R.A.L. (Revitalizing Underdeveloped Rural Areas Legislation) Tax District. Most recently, the City of Bainbridge was selected by the Georgia Municipal Association & the Georgia Cities Foundation to serve as one of three pilot communities in the Georgia Placemaking Collaborative Program.
