Southwest Georgia Housing Task Force

Southwest Georgia Housing Task Force is a regional collaborative created in 2000 that is comprised of more than 16 housing stakeholders and partner agencies. The mission of the Task Force is to identify and provide affordable housing solutions through community partnerships for all residents in Southwest Georgia. The Task Force supports ongoing housing activities in the region and also conducts educational seminars, first time homebuyer workshops, housing fairs and housing conferences.

Youth Development Initiative

The Youth Development Initiative views teens as not just as the leaders of tomorrow but the leaders of today. With that mindset, the group works to bring about opportunities for youth in each county in the region. The Initiative strives to see each county develop or maintain a youth council where the voice of youth is heard. Young people are encouraged to identify and address teen-related issues in their county. YDI seeks to instill in each young person the skills needed to emotionally and physically navigate through the teen years to adulthood. The initiative is composed of adults from across the region who works with youth. The group meets the first Friday of each month at 9 a.m. at the Mitchell County Teen Resource Center.
