If a government has an idea of a project they would like to pursue we will assist with searching and developing a list of potential funding resources. Grant Proposal Development: The Southwest Georgia RC will write and develop grants once they have been identified. The service includes consulting, utilizing needs assessments, and brainstorming workable solutions, as well as cultivating goals and objectives. We draft an evaluation plan, prepare documents for submission, proofread, and submit to the funding source and follow-up. **If applying for foundation or corporation grants, there is a fee that is equivalent to the number of hours necessary times the current hourly rate. Grant Proposal Review: If your organization wants a completed proposal evaluated prior to submission to the funding source, The Southwest Georgia RC can help. We proofread it making sure it matches the Request for Proposal and funding guidelines. We will evaluate the proposal, identify weaknesses and make suggestions. Grant Administration: The Administration department of the Southwest Georgia RC provides assistance to local municipalities and staffs in obtaining and managing grant awards that support governmental activities while assuring proper stewardship of those funds. The office is charged with review and approval of proposals sent to all sponsors. The Administration department works closely with municipalities and staff to ensure financial compliance and proper accounting of externally sponsored funds. The Southwest Georgia RC’s administration department’s responsibilities include financial reporting and closeout, effort reporting, and development of the facilities.

Unfortunately, in grant writing there are no guarantees, many grants are very competitive in nature. What we are able to guarantee is that we will meet deadlines, and submit a professional well-written document. How much does it cost for the RC to write this grant for my community? Local governments pay dues directly to RC for services; because of this grant writing for state or federal funds is at no additional cost to the local government. What are common grants that City’s apply for? The RC writes several Community Development Block Grants, Assistance to Firefighter’s Grants, Local Law Enforcement Grants, Immediate Threat and Danger Grants, and Community Housing Initiative Program Grants on a yearly basis. There are some occasions when a grantor will allow you to make budget revisions – in which case you MUST await written confirmation stating that you can use the funds for something other than the original grant request. There are grantors however that will not allow budget revisions and you will have to conform to the original request or de-obligate funds. |
